Hi, my name is Cori. I blog about working from home, help new bloggers get established and grow their blog, and share my mom moments on my blog Not Now Mom’s Busy.
I’m so excited to be a part of Renee’s team of contributors to share what I know about making money from home.
I thought my first post should be to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me, how I started working from home and eventually became a blogger.
If you’re reading this, chances are you are in a new chapter in your journey and you might be finding yourself being independent and looking for ways to earn an income.
By you reading this, you are a step in the right direction!
Every week I’ll be showing a variety of ways you can make money from home. I’ll share job-specific posts, how to start a homebased business and other money making ideas. Here’s how my journey started.
I started working from home back in 2010. Before that I worked for AT&T as a service rep and worked my butt off to manager’s assistant then coach leader and sales manager.
Climbing the ladder of success came at a hefty price. I was working long hours which meant I was never home. I missed out on my kid’s programs and other school events. Soon, my oldest daughter was acting out and my relationship with the hubs was getting more strained as the days went by. To make things worse, the stress of a career and family began to take a toll on my health.
The Start Of A New Journey
I realized had to make a change fast. During my days off I would search online for another job hoping to find something that’s less stressful. One day I found a website about making money from home. I found out there were a variety of ways anyone can earn money from the comfort of their home. The more the more I read about it, the more it sounded like the answer to my problem.
But I was so scared to take the leap that I held on to my job for three more years. That’s when I had enough of the B.S. at work and resigned on the spot.
I had mixed emotions about my quitting. I was relieved that I didn’t have to deal with all the crap at work but I was worried because I left a good paying job and benefits for the unknown. Needless to say I cried all the way home.
The next day when I got home from dropping off my kids off at school, I sat in front of my computer and thought “okay, now what do I do.” I knew I wanted to work but I was done working in an office so I decided to give the work-from-home thing a shot.
I went back to the work-from-home website I to read more about making money from home. At this point, I needed to start making money right away. I found out I could get paid for doing online surveys. It was a quick way to make some money while I figured things out.
My Dream Is Closing In
In between the surveys, I looked for work-from-home jobs. I found my first work-from-home job as a customer service rep for Cloud 10 now known as Transcom. But I was laid off 9 months later when the company no longer offered a night shift.
I went back to search for a new work-from-home job but then I started thinking about starting my own business I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do and there wasn’t much start-up money to play with.
I read an article about becoming a blogger and that’s when I decided to start a work-from-home blog called Work-from-Home Concepts.
The first two years I chalk up to a learning curve. I soaked up everything there was to learn about blogging like a boss and now I help other women who want to become bloggers start their own journey.
A couple of years later I expanded my blog to share what I know about blogging, my mom moments and of course, how to make money from home. And that’s how Not Now Mom’s Busy was born.
Over to You
Well, that’s me in a nutshell. Now I’d like to hear from you. Tell me a little about yourself and if you have any questions about working from home, ask away and I’d be more than happy to answer them for you.
Stay tuned next week when I show you how you can make fast money!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge to help others earn money. I can’t wait to see more!
It was my pleasure Renee. And thank you for letting me share all I know about working from home with your community.
